SPOON SCRAMBLE

Materials:
Number of Players:

Four (4)

Object of the Game:

To avoid getting all the letters in the word SPOONS.

Directions:

Place the spoons in the center of the table.

  1. The dealer shuffles and deals the cards facedown (4 to each player).
  2. Players look at their cards.  If a player has 4 cards of equal value, proceed to Step 4 below.  Otherwise, each player chooses a card to discard and passes it, facedown, to the player on the left.
    Example:  A player has the cards 1/4 or 24; 3 1/2 * 2; 50% of 12; and 0.10 * 90.  Since two cards are equal to 6, discard either 3 1/2 * 2 or 0.10 * 90.
  3. Each player picks up the new card and chooses a card to pass to the next player.  The passing of the cards should proceed as quickly as possible.
  4. As soon as a player has 4 cards of equal value, the player places the cards face up on the table and grabs a spoon.  The other players then try to grab one of the remaining spoons.
  5. The player left without a spoon in each round is assigned a letter from the word SPOONS, starting with the first letter.  If a player incorrectly claims to have 4 cards of equal value, that player receives a letter instead of the player left without a spoon.
  6. Players put the spoons back in the center of the table.  The dealer shuffles and deals the cards.  A new round begins (Step 2 above).
  7. Play continues until 1 player gets all the letters in SPOONS.  The player who has the fewest letters in SPOONS is the winner.  If players have the same number of letters there is a tie.
